Regally Bred Stallion

Arrogates Hercules is unquestionably regally bred. By the great Arrogate, all time leading money winner of over $17,422,000 whose achievements included Hall of Fame enshrinement in 2023, Eclipse Award Winner in 2016 as 3 year old Champion, Winner of the Breeders Cup Classic in 2016 defeating such greats as California Chrome, Frosted and Keen Ice, the last two by almost 12 lengths.

In addition, Arrogate was #1 in the world in earnings in 2016 and 2017! Arrogate won a total of 4 grade 1 races on his way to being the all time leading money winner.
Arrogates Hercules Dam is spectacular as well. Willet earned over $865,000 in purse money. Willet retired with an impressive record of 31-10-9-7 hitting the board a whopping 84% of the time winning 5 stakes races, placing in another 13 stakes to include the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes and the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom. Her son “Who’s The King” ran in the $1,000,000 Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby along with two of Arrogate’s sons – Seize the Grey who won it and Dragoon Guard who finished third missing second by a very short nose.

Suffice to say, this is one excellently bred stallion and no doubt the best in the Southwest if not the United States.

Background Story

Arrogates Hercules did not race. He was started briefly as a two-year old, however, one half of the partnership did not pay the stud fee (Arrogate was standing for $75,000.00) as such they were unable to get him registered and half the training bills paid so he was put on a shelf until the financial issues could be resolved. Unfortunately, that took several years.

Arrogate Hercules was sold as a four year-old in an effort to pay past due stud fee’s, training bills, boarding bills and vet bills. Once that was achieved, the new owner began Arrogates Hercules training again. He had his first breeze in May of 2024 at the age of almost 4 ½ years of age and weighing almost 1400 pounds. At 17 hands tall he was a very large horse.

When Lonestar Stallions was contacted about acquiring him, we rapidly did so, all training was stopped and the decision to retire him was made by the new owners.

Although his trainer stated he showed considerable talent and two of his last three works were bullet works, the new owners felt the risk of racing him was too great.

In 2019 Lonestar Stallions Airoforce had two yearlings located at a farm in Pennsylvania in which the farm manager lied to the owners and told him the weanlings had been weaned in October, this unscrupulous individual went so far as to invoice the owners beginning in October for additional stalls and feed.

In January while attending the Keeneland yearling sale, Jeff Jeans contacted the farm manager about having the two (yearlings at this time) picked up the following week and shipped to Virginia to become Virginia certified.

Upon hearing this the farm manager went into a verbal rage that would embarrass a drunk sailor. Mr. Jeans hung up the phone and made some phone calls, unfortunately he discovered from people in Pennsylvania that had been to the farm that week, the two yearlings had NEVER BEEN WEANED AND HAD LIVED THEIR LIFE IN THE STALL WITH THEIR DAM’S!

Both of these colts eventually had to be put down because they had not developed bone density as most two and three-year olds do from running around in a pasture and playing with other weanlings and yearlings.

Knowing that Arrogates Hercules had not had the same opportunities as most race horses who start building bone when they are 18 months old, the partners felt the same risk was there and chose the horse over the money and quickly retired Arrogates Hercules. Suffice to say he had talent, but more importantly, his pedigrees360 sex balance reports show him to be a superior candidate as a Sire, so the partners did make the right decision for the horse.
